Royal jewelry has long been a staple of royal families worldwide.
Some are meant to honor a particular event or the person or people who died in a particular way.
Others are meant as a sign of the people and places where they are made, said Sarah P. Jones, senior curator of the Royal Jewelry Museum in London, England.
But many royal pieces can also serve as an accessory to the wearer’s personal style.
For example, the Royal Collection of Jewelry, a collection of the world’s most precious items, features many of the pieces that the Queen wears as she presides over the British monarchy.
Here are five things to know about jewelry worn by the Queen and other members of the British royal family.
How many pieces of jewelry can a queen wear?
The Queen has worn around 500 pieces of precious jewelry.
Each piece can be valued at around $50,000.
For her coronation, she was given a set of six silver studs worth $500,000, which was worth more than $2 million at the time.
But the Queen’s jewelry has also included earrings, necklaces, earrings with gems, rings, bracelets, ear rings and bracelets with pearls, said Elizabeth Foy, a professor of art history at the University of Cambridge.
The Queen was given the rings with the pearls to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee in 2021, Foy said.
What is a diamond?
A diamond is a stone with a tiny hole through which the gemstones are inserted.
It’s usually a solid piece of stone and is usually the most valuable of all jewelry.
The diamonds that the Royal Family wears are made from precious metals such as diamonds, sapphires, rubies, saphires and opals, said Foy.
These gems can fetch thousands of dollars for a set.
But some are also used as charms, neck laces, anklets, neck ties, bracelet straps and even earrings.
How much jewelry does the Queen wear?
Her personal jewelry is usually worth more money than what a diamond can buy.
She is allowed to have as many as five diamonds and three rubies in her personal collection.
The Diamond Jubilees are scheduled to receive more than 150,000 pieces of jewellery.
The Royal Family can wear as many jewelry as they want, including rings, neckties, earwigs, ear earrings and earrings in the shape of pearls.
How is the Queen dressed?
The crown is always worn by a queen in a full black gown with a red silk dress covering her shoulders and a red satin tiara.
The dress is worn in a formal manner, Fay said.
What are the most expensive items in the Royal family jewelry collection?
The jewels that the British Queen wears are not necessarily the most costly items in her collection, Jones said.
They are pieces of expensive jewelry that can add up to hundreds of thousands of pounds.
The gold pieces that she is known to wear most often are about $10 million.
The pearls that she carries around with her are typically around $4 million.
But Foy pointed out that the royal jewels and pearls are only the most prominent pieces in the collection, not the entirety of the collection.
They can be worn in different ways, she said.
For instance, if she is visiting a country where the pearl jewelry is rare, she can choose to wear the pearles in an accent, or wear them as earrings or earrings on a necklace.
